WHAT IS RUSH?

Rush is a period of time in which interested girls can meet with the sisters and learn more about Sigma Psi Zeta through social events and activities. It’s completely free with no obligations at any time!

WHAT IS A BID?

A bid is a formal invitation to join the sorority at the end of the two rush weeks. In order to be eligible for a bid, you must attend (1) General Interest Meeting and at least (2) other rush events, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

WHAT IS THE NEW MEMBER EDUCATION PROCESS?

The new member education process is a process in which one who has formally accepted a bid learns about the history and values of the sorority in order to become a full-fledged member. During this process, intakes learn what it means to be a Sigma and build invaluable relationships.

ARE NON-ASIANS ALLOWED TO JOIN?

Yes! Sigma Psi Zeta is an Asian-interest sorority, not Asian-exclusive. Many of our sisterships across the nation include sisters from a diverse range of racial and ethnic backgrounds who all agree with the core values of our sisterhood.

WHO IS ALLOWED TO JOIN?

Anyone who identifies as a woman. Even if you were not born female, if you identify as a woman when you decide to join, you are welcome to this sorority!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE “TYPICAL” SIGMA SISTER?

There is no “typical” Sigma sister. Sisterhood is not a mold for women to fit into. Nor does it make each sister who they are. Each sister contributes her talent, idealism, devotion and energies to the greater organization, giving our sisterhood the character it has today. We hope that each sister will change our sisterhood, helping it to grow and evolve.

DOES SIGMA HAZE?

Sigma Psi Zeta enforces a strict non-hazing policy. Our organization’s national philanthropy is to combat the violence against women, and stand up against the disrespect of women in all its myriad forms. Subsequently, to degrade intakes by hazing would contradict the core values our sisterhood was founded upon.

DOES SIGMA HAVE A BROTHER FRATERNITY?

Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. does not have a brother fraternity. As a sorority that prizes strong, independent women, we have made a deliberate choice to remain unaffiliated with another Greek organization.
